In the yards today, the yaks were at it again with the Open Haltered Yak Show. Many yak enthusiasts were present for the show.
Yaks are judged by a “sum of parts,” meaning that many things go into how they are evaluated. Their appearance should be the complete package, being sound, healthy and have good feet and legs. Yaks are also judged on their wool, which is used much like the wool of a sheep. In the halter competition, yaks are also handled very thoroughly to test their docility and personality.
