Greeting the 2015 National Western Stock Show goers with a warm smile and words of encouragement is Carla Wolff. This is her first year working at the National Western, though she has attended for many years. A native of Chicago, she now calls Denver home. "I like being the 'cheerleader' and getting people pumped for the day!
Greeter wasn't the job she thought she'd be working when she turned in her job application.
"I had filled out an application for stall maintenance. I knew I knew how to do that job," Wolff said, "But I really like being a greeter. People don't understand the power of a positive word and an open door!"
One thing Carla's noticed over that last 13 days, is that everyone gets lost. Whether they've been here both weeks or they just got here today, Wolff is more than happy to help people find their destination.
In between handing out smiles and words of encouragement, Wolff has had some spare thinking time, during which she's written a poem:
May not know the name, but only faces.
Interesting people from interesting places.
The days were long and the weeks even longer.
But what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.
Say hello to Carla next time you see her!
