Exhibitors from across the country battled it out this morning in the 2015 Medal of Excellence National Limousin Show held at the National Western Stock Show. With over 24 classes of bulls and females, judge Joel Cowley of Houston, Texas, had the task of selecting his national champion animals.
Beginning the show with cow/calf pairs, Cowley selected ENGD Zenana 2074Z owned by Englewood Farms and John Tobe of Lancaster, Kentucky, as Grand Champion Limousin Cow/calf Pair.
Following the selection of Grand Champion Cow/calf Pair, Cowley sorted through 15 classes of Limousin females to select his grand and reserve females. AUTO Amerie exhibited by Caitlyn Ochsner of Kersey, Colorado, was named Champion Limousin Female. The reserve champion female was LH Belle 015B exhibited by Colt Cunningham of Rose, Oklahoma.
During the bull show, Cowley evaluated eight classes of bulls eventually naming MAGS Zappo owned by Gary Magness of Magness Land & Cattle, Platteville, Colorado, as his champion bull. Bruce Lawrence of Lawrence Family Limousin, Anton, Texas, exhibited the reserve bull, LFL Benjamin 4010B.
Before the Grand Champion Bull was selected, James Henderson of Ebenezer, Missouri, was recognized after being chosen as the Limousin Herdsman of the Year by his fellow Limousin exhibitors.
