Early this morning, exhibitors and their crews hit the barns with clippers and adhesives in hand one goal in mind – leave the show with a purple banner. The open Hereford Bull show kicked off this morning with a large crowd of spectators intently watching to see who will be selected as the superior sires representing the breed. Although the exhibitors make presenting bulls look effortless, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes in order to make the champions look their best.
The familiar turn-of-phrase, “behind every great man…” that applies in the world of Hereford’s, except with a twist: “behind every great bull is a great crew.” There are countless talented men and women behind the scenes preparing these cattle to hit the ring that often are never seen ringside or recognized for their efforts. The countless miles on the road, and hours spent perfecting their craft comes down to one day, one moment.
Preparing these bulls for a show is an art, and truly takes a passionate artist to execute.
