The hairy critters took over Stadium Arena this morning during the 29th Annual AHCA National Highland Show. The arena was also filled with the sound of traditional bagpipe music from the Denver and District Pipe Band. The band was led by pipe major, Lisa Nelson, and drum major, John Thorton.
There were six divisions of heifers competing for the Grand Champion Female Bronze Trophy. Greg Starr of Olathe, Kansas, was selected as the Grand Champion Female. Also, receiving a bronze trophy was the Grand Champion Cow/Calf winner, Ray Shatney of Plainfield, Vermont. Bob Meyers of Draper, Virginia, was selected as the Grand Champion Bull.
Throughout the show, each exhibitor and breeder is awarded points for their placing in class. The Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor recipients will be announced at the Highland’s banquet.
Congratulations to all of the exhibitors, and thank you, Denver and District Pipe Band for playing!
